“Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time; and colette cannot exist without Colette” with this instagram post, one of the most influential stores in the world shuts down end of this year. While the conversation is buzzing, our feature goes to colette’s just announced collaboration with H&M, a paradigm of the store’s 20 years story.
We already saw the Swedish fast fashion brand teaming up with luxury brands, as we are used to the special collaboration/celebration in blue of the Paris-based concept store Colette.
What is really new in this partnership is the joint effort of two opposite retail reality. The power of a mass retailer such as H&M on one side and the exclusiveness of a research-driven store like Colette on the other.
This is not the first time the two collaborate, in 2012 the Parisian concept store has indeed sold the Swedish retailer’s accessories collection signed by the designer and celebrity Anna Dello Russo, but this is the very first time the Swedish fast-fashion brand has co-designed a range with an other retailer.
With its more exclusive Studio line, H&M has created a nine pieces capsule collection for the Fall 2017.
A mix of hand-painted graffiti, punk influences and feminine silhouettes in a special color palette inspired by Colette’s signature blue.
The H&M Studio x Colette collaboration launches, with an exclusive pre-sale, on August 21 in-store and online at Colette for two weeks, and will be available with selected pieces from the core H&M Studio Fall collection and from September 14 in select H&M stores and online.
