After multiple rumours and a first sneaker leaks, early this year with Dragon Ball Z x adidas Prophere “Cell”, the sportswear giant adidas has finally confirmed via press release its official partnership with Toei Animation’s Dragon Ball Z.
For the adidas Originals x Dragon Ball Z collaboration, three battles from the Japanese anime series have been reimagined in sneaker form, with seven silhouettes available – as the seven “mystical balls”- each to represent the heroes and villains who fought in the battles, plus a kick inspired by Shenron the Dragon that will be the last drop.
The first character inspired items to hit the shelves will Son Goku vs. Frieza, represented by a new ZX 500 RM and Yung-1 sneaker respectively; will follow Son Gohan vs. Cell, in the shape of a Deerupt and Prophere; and Vegeta vs. Majin Buu, who get an Ultra Tech and Kamanda.
The shoes will come in special Dragon Ball Z packaging, full of little special details that make the collaboration even more unique: a special adidas Originals x Dragon Ball Z logo on the front; the adidas Originals trefoil replacing the star in Dragon Ball Z‘s Dragon Balls; an image of the character who inspires the design; and all the box come together to form one large single design – a homage to the tapestry-like images found on the spines of the original Dragon Ball magazines.
Moreover, each of the sneakers will come with a collectible Dragon Ball Z special-edition figurine, that makes the collection even more unmissable for all the generation that grew-up watching Toriyama’s masterpiece.
The collection will be dropping monthly from September to December and will hit us like a Kamehameha collaboration!
