Ikea continues its process of elevating its brand’s perception with a new high-profile collaboration. After Off-White’s Virgil Abloh and Byredo, today Ikea is offering an exploratory journey through the emotional effects of lighting at home with a project born from a collaboration with Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis: Varmblixt.

The Varmblixt collection consists of objects such as an LED pendant lamp featuring curved frosted white glass tubes, a wall mirror designed with a semi-transparent glass panel and a light strip, and two versions inspired by a recurring theme in Marcelis’s work: the doughnut, which here features a glass bowl and a wall/table lamp.

The products are born as beautiful sculptural objects when turned off and, when illuminated, they transform into a magical display of light engineering.

With this collection Ikea  encourages a change in our perception of lighting, from simple functionality to an emotional experience – a new angle on how light can transform the look, feel, and atmosphere of our homes.

The products will be available at all Ikea stores worldwide starting February 1, and February 4 on the web.
