In the midst of all the mainstream ranges proposed by cosmetics licensees at the just-ended 2016  edition of Cosmoprof (Disney and Star Wars were literally everywhere), the standout line was probably the MTV fragrances range, along with the Mentos toiletries line covered last week.

De Ruy Perfumes based in Sevilla, Spain presented an astonishing range of eight scents, split evenly between man and woman, that combine the most pervasive olfactory trends with MTV-styled, pop-rock patterns.

Besides the two basic fragrances, “Man” and “Woman”, the men’s line is rounded out by “Sound Check”, “Jamming Vibe” and “Amplify” – based on aromatic tonic, spicy leather, and fresh aquatic scents respectively. The women’s “Electric Beat”, “Rock”, and “Neon Metal” perfumes feature fruity floral, floral, and fruity-gourmand notes.

With a wide range backed by a proposition of “which MTV is more you?”, De Ruy is catering to a broad base of young adults, thanks to a multi-territory licensing deal signed in 2015 with Viacom.
