After the collaborations with Philippe Starck, LaCie goes on accompanying technology with design. LaCie Mirror is the new hard disk that the Seagate’s brand made in collaboration with Pauline Deltour, French designer with partnerships with Alessi, Kvadrat, Muji, to name just a few. This unique device, premiering at CES in Las Vegas on 6th January, is at once both a functional 1TB hard drive and a striking piece of decor.

Pauline Deltour takes inspiration from everyday objects, creating useful, sturdy, and poetic works of art. With LaCie Mirror, she took a staple of modern life as digital storage and recast it into something as multifunctional as it is radiant. The disk is propped up on an ebony wood display stand, and is coated with scratch-resistant, reflecting glass, manufactured by Corning, specialized in high technology glass and ceramics. The Makassar ebony stand is dense and richly colored, and is hewed so that every piece is unique and no two pieces are alike.

“You have to look twice to discover the LaCie Mirror’s true ambition” declares Pauline Deltour. “Covered by mirrored glass, it’s first an elegant and functional object, and only on second glance is it revealed to be a slim and high–performance hard drive.”
LaCie Mirror portable hard drive will first be available in late January only at lacie.com, with a retail price of $ 280, to be then distributed wordlwide later in the 2015.
