Macy’s has partnered with Li Fung USA and Authentic Brands Group to create an apparel collection that re-imagines the style of the icon of the 20th century for the 21st century fashionista.

The “Marilyn Monroe-only at Macy’s” line will launch in March in 150 Macy’s stores and online at Ranging from 29 $ to 89 $, the collection is flirty and ultra-feminine, and includes not only dresses, but girl-next-door hints like button-down tops and pink polka dot denim, evoking a Monroe-esque image in full. A special advertising campaign will support the launch on fashion magazines as well as in direct mail, online and in-store. Today’s modern-day Marilyn model is set against a backdrop of the icon’s most famous photographs, each image depicting a carefree persona and sassy attire in an updated style that is relevant to today’s customer.

Authentic Brands Group, licensor for Marilyn Monroe’s intellectual properties, partnered with MAC Cosmetics for a similar Marilyn Monroe inspired range of cosmetics, launched worldwide last autumn.
