In a seamless effort in creating “emblems of obsession”, Montegrappa returns with a second chapter dedicated to the NASA program, with a collection dedicated to Atlantis, the last Shuttle to fly in 1992.

Between 1981 and 2011, NASA’s Space Shuttle fleet flew an incredible 135 missions. Five operational Orbiter Vehicles were built in total: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Endeavour and Atlantis – all named after historical exploration and research vessels. Atlantis was the last Shuttle to fly, and the first to carry an Italian to space, and after 30 years the Italian brand of luxury pens celebrates Dr. Franco Malerba, the first Italian astronaut.

The design is inspired to NASA’s crisp lines and classic white, red and blue colors of the independent agency of the U.S. federal government, responsible for the civilian space program and aeronautics and space research.

The Atlantis collection includes three models: a Fountain Pen, a Rollerball and a Ballpoint. All versions feature a clean resin livery, and the NASA “Worm” logo that accentuates its obvious, early-90s influences. The engravings on the stainless-steel hardware reproduce the launchpad and lift-off modes of Atlantis.

The limited edition is completed by a white, red and blue box, after the NASA media colours, and an autographed copy of “The Summit” the book by Franco Malerba – signed by himself.
