Timex returns to collaborate with Todd Snyder, the American designer from the eponymous menswear brand, in a partnership that incorporates the military style of their latest collection “Timex x Todd Snyder military watch” released in 2018.

This time the collaboration draws inspiration from the utilitarian style of standard-issue timepieces worn by the American servicemen and presents the new “Timex Todd Snyder MK-1 Black + White”, an atypical mix of war and peace, lights and shadows.

To explain this union, however, we must go back in time to World War II, when the watches’ black dials were a potential danger for soldiers, as a faint glow would have allowed, with its reflection, to reveal their location to the enemy. Despite this, the contrast of a black dial with luminescent numbers made it easy to read at night or underwater, while the white dials were then associated over the years with evening watches, elegant and relegated to the optimism of peacetime. Timex x Todd Snyder wants thus celebrate both the dark and the brighter side.

The watch is a Quartz Movement, forged in aircraft-quality steel, water resistant to 50 meters and it is available at selected retailers for $138 and at ToddSnyder’s website.
