Co-founded by Ben Shenassafar and Bobby Kim (a.k.a. Bobby Hundreds) in 2003, The Hundreds is a 2-part lifestyle project that houses both a clothing line and online-magazine, a brand which incorporates a trademark attitude and personal perspective on street subculture.
The Hundreds apparel is inspired by L.A. lifestyle: skateboarding, surf, punk, and hip-hop cultures. The design is reminiscent of 1980s surf-culture T-shirts, independent skateboard company apparel of the 1990s, and the advent of “streetwear” at the end of the millennium.
As most brand loyalists know, Back to the Future is Bobby Hundreds’ favorite movie of all time (He even drives a DeLorean). In 2015, celebrating its 30th anniversary, the time-traveling, coming-of-age story led to Bobby’s lifelong obsession with time and timelessness, impacting his brand from retail buildouts to T-shirt graphics.
Between Back to the Future and The Hundreds, the parallels of California culture, adolescence, ‘80s-‘90s nostalgia, skateboarding, sneakers, and rock and roll have resonated through the generations. That’s why the Hundreds plays it again 5 years later in occasion of the 35th anniversary.
On July 23rd, The Hundreds and Back To The Future joined forces once again for Back To The Hundreds Ⅱ, available on The Hundreds App and Online Shop (US and UK), as well as select stockists worldwide.
From the vicious pitbull that graces Biff’s hoverboard to Doc’s funny green socks from the future, Back to the Hundreds II collection recreated it all, even Marty’s iconic denim jacket, down to the most inconspicuous detail, even sticking the jacket with the same pins Marty had on his. And The Hundreds took care of all the Doc fans, too: the print from his pajamas has been upgraded to a silky-smooth woven short-sleeve button-up.
